San Clemente Nov 2013

We love our trips to San Clemente. And I always take the girls on walks, even though they grudgingly protest most times. But on our first venture out this specific trip, Naomi pointed out the "chicks" in these succulent plants out front of the condo. She explained that they are called chicks cause they continuously grow from the mother plants, so the smaller bulbs are called chicks. Good to know.

Then there was this birds nest on a sign. My girls couldn't believe it could survive on a thin post.
And of course no trip to San Clemente would be complete with out a stop to the "Bagel Shack."
The best bagels around. Only other place I've had such yum soft bagels was in Boston.

Then its off to the thrift stores along Camino Real. We love the thrift stores down there.

Later we drove to the South Coast Plaza where all the holiday decor was already going up and it was only the first of November. Guess they'd rather be ready.

The Main Event! Celebrating Ron and Chris' birthdays

I'll just say that Audrey doesn't' do well adjusting to sleeping in a new place. So getting her to stay in the port-a-crib was a disaster! She kept climbing out, coming out of the kids room, crying and crying and crying. I held her a few times. And then I got to the point where I just didn't know what to do so she ended up at me feet on the floor crying in the hall. She finally pooped out after about 2 hrs after the start of bed time. The joys of being a mother.

Sunday Family Fun Day! After church we decided to take the girls down to the beach to run and play. And it was magical. Audrey had been begging to go to the beach since we arrived on Friday evening. We all walked to our usual spot near the lifeguard station and the bathrooms, but ended up in a much better spot. Naomi asked if we could walk to the rocks where there are see creatures, so we all walked together. The girls ran through water springing up from the rocks, the tide was so low that there were way more hidden rocks to play on that are usually submerged in water. I'll let the pictures below do the explaining:
