Audrey's 2nd Dentist Appointment with Dr Eddie So

Audrey, who has my bad teeth genetics, had her second dentist appointment in California with Dr Eddie So. Everyone I've talked to that takes their kids to him love him. Audrey sat so good while she had her teeth cleaned, x-rayed and examined. Then the moment of truth hit when the Dr told me what needed to be done. Then the receptionist printed out how much it would all cost. Uuuuh, no thanks. We'll get a second opinion.

Ivan Koumaev Master Class at CSDA!

Ivan Koumaev, Justin Timberlake's choreographer and lead dancer, came to CSDA to do a full day of master classes. Naomi went for one hour during her age group. Ivan was really fun to watch teach, and I'm sure the kids loved it. He had so much energy.

Before the class started, Ivan got to know the kids and asked Naomi what happened to her arm. This was her explaining it to him.

After they performed their dance for the parents, Ivan sat all the kids down and gave them a pep talk how "hip hop is fun, ballet and tap and jazz is hard. So stay in class and take as many classes as you can..." It was cute. I was the last mom

Pumpkin Time! 2013

Yeah, Its finally Fall! Even though we still have days in the 90's, the air is starting to feel cooler and the mornings have a cool moisture that feels like my childhood. So as the season begins, so does the baking.
Naomi really wants to be in "Tom Sawyer" the musical at Center Stage Dance Academy. After last years expensive adventure of Competition Dance Team, we decided that if Naomi wanted to do the show she would have to earn the money herself. So we started a bake sale: pumpkin spice muffins and nutella fudge. Both delicious. We're going to have to sell a lot of cupcakes and fudge to make it to the $ gaol, but we'll do it.

Since Ryan's calling in church is in Young Mens over the boy scouts, he gets to be a part of all their fundraisers. So now we buy our pumpkins from the boy scouts each year. The girls and I went to Walgreens on Foothill to Ryan and the boys to pick out the 4 they wanted. I love that it was a bright sunny day, squinty faces and all.

We had our first rainy day of the season, 2 days after it was 90 degrees. But it was fun to put rain boots on, grab some umbrellas and pick up the girls from school. Isla Terrill came to play and got to come with us.

While Naomi is at Gymnastics, the other two girls and I usually go across the street to the Arcadia Public Library, as I've probably posted before. But this particular day was fun. Heidi came home from school and redressed herself to match Audreys outfit. When we got out of the car to return some books and movies, they were so giddy that they ran up the walkway holding hands.

Bradoaks Elementary School has an amazing Fall Fundraiser every year. Since we have friends that go to school there, we decided to go and support and have a family night out. Here are a few things the girls did.
The skeleton crank: you have to crank the rope to pull the skeleton in.

                                                                 Hair Color Sprayed

She looks bothered, but she loves to have her hair sprayed and her face painted.
The girls played a bunch of games and won a bunch of little trinkets, but it was a quick easy night out!

Naomi's 4th Grade Student Council Sept 17th-23rd 2013

Naomi announced at Dinner that she wanted to run for Student Council. OK, so what do you have to do? She went into a whole slew of papers to be signed, poster to be made, speech to be written... So here you go with a few photos.
The poster making: I tried to guide her on making a very simple poster with a catchy slogan. We came up with "DON'T BE BOLOGNA VOTE FOR NAOMI" But we weren't sure how many kids would know how to spell or say bologna so we changed the "a" to an "i" on the poster. You'll see below.

We tried to sparkle her name, but it wasn't showing up the way we wanted it, so once the whole things was finished, we used gold glitter spray and sprayed the whole poster.

It was her idea to add a rainbow. She wanted to do a bunch of rainbows, but I talked her into one big one. Putting a bunch of bologna on it would be cheesy. So a rainbow would make it bright and vivid enough to see the color but read the black letters.

The day of her speech, I waited outside her class room after school. The new student council members, who were voted in by the class, weren't told who made it till the last 5 minutes of  class. So when Naomi walked out of her room, she threw her arms up with a big woohoo. This is the face of a very confidant and excited girl.

During the next Monday morning assembly, all the new student council members were called up to the front to help say the pledge of allegiance, school pledge, and sing the Mariner song. It was so fun to have her name called and get to walk all the way up the ramp to stand in front of the whole school. Thats her right in the middle with the white shirt and pink lunch box.

After the first student council meeting, Naomi and one other boy were selected to stand up at the next Monday morning announcements. She was able to pass out gold card winner prizes, say the pledge, and sing the mayflower song. She was adamant that we needed to be to school early so she could wait up on the top ramp. She is very serious about this job.

I did start a video of her saying the pledge, but my phone was too full, ugh, even though I deleted a bunch of photos so I would have room. Bummer. I'm sure she'll do it again.
