Lemonade Stand Summer 2013

1st Day of Lemonade Sales!
6-19-13
Since Naomi has been determined to buy her own iPod, she has been doing odds and ends jobs at home, begging for more to do when she realized that she hadn't quite made enough the 1st day of jobs. So when I had nothing else for her to do, or that she could do at the age of 9, a Lemonade Stand popped into mind. We had bought this stand at Costco 2 years ago and we have used it every summer. So why not get a jump start and make Naomi some money. We threw some pink lemonade together with the last of the powder mix,  loaded the stand in the car, added some straggler neighbor boys to the mix, set up shop at Mayflower and Colorado, and started selling lemonade and granola bars (the few my kids wouldn't eat that I bought in bulk from costco.)

A police officer drove by, stopped on Mayflower, didn't get out, then drove off. I wondered if he was going to ask us if we had a permit to sell the lemonade. But next thing I know, he had pulled around the corner to park on Colorado and walked over to buy a cup. I love it when the police or firemen stop to support children selling Lemonade.

This man talked the kids ear off, pulled out his harmonica and played them some blues, got the kids to sing a song for him, then over stayed his welcome when all the lemonade was gone and I had to walk away from them to get the car to clean up. The kids all got a kick out of it, but... Creapy!!!

2nd Day of Lemonade Sales!
6-21-13
After a busy morning, we rushed home, made double the amount of lemonade with the newly purchase lemons and strawberry powder, set up shop again, and sold $40 worth of lemonade and a few granola bars. Let me tell you, this takes so much patience on my part, but it is fun to teach and watch Naomi be determined to sell as much as possible. She is so excited to count up all she earned, and stash it away till she has enough to buy her own iPod.
