Baby #3 Delivery Day: 8-12-10

August 12th, 2010 was an early morning for Ryan and I as we prepared to go to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, Ca to deliver our third baby girl. We were scheduled to go in @ 5 am for and induction, but we both woke up around 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep. We tried, trust me. But my child inside the womb kept hopping around, and all I could think of was, "It's almost time for your appearance into this world." So we got up, got ready, and headed to the hospital.
We arrived just shortly after 5 am. We would have been on time but Ryan had to stop @ McDonalds for breakfast. We walked right up to the maternity ward and were led to our room, 308, where everything would happen for the next two days. Because I didn't pre-register it took a while to be inteviewed by our nurse before I could have an I.V. to start the pitocin. So, after our nurse talked a little too much and all the paper work was put into the computer, it was around 7 am when we were able to start the induction. I was dialated to a 2 for a few hours, but I scared my nurse by telling her that my labor goes really fast, even when being induced. So even though I wasn't dialated enough to get an epidural, she lied to the anesthesiologist and had him give me the epidural around 9 am. The hospital was very busy that day and he wouldn't be able to come back till later that day. So he came around 9 am. Even though my contractions were very close and very intense, according to the monitors (since I couldn't feel them due to the epidural) I was not dialating any more than a 2 for a few more hours. I thought, "Great, it will be this baby that would be stubborn and take forever to be delivered." But just before 12 pm, Nance came to check me before she went on her 1/2 hr break. At that point I was a 4. I asked her to cut back on the epidural cause I was so numb that my legs kept falling off the bed, and I couldn't even pick them back up with out some help. She obliged then, left and came back in around 12:25 to check me again when mentioned that I felt a little pressure "down there." Well, as I had told her, I was ready to go. She ran to get the doctor and a buzz quickly happened flew into the room. Dr Kassar came in with a robe on, asked for gloves and looked at the monitor. I watched his face as it turned from joking with the nurses to panic as he said, " we need to push cause the babies heart rate is dropping fast." The nurse came over and told me to push. Again! There was no counting to 10 while holding my breath. No one to couch or hold my hand or leg at that. I pushed 2 times, then I saw Dr Kassar turn around to grab something at the table. I knew it was the scissors to give me an episiotomy. I saw the motion of two snips and soon there after I felt a head release and soon a baby was lifted onto my stomach.
I'll finish later...
