Back to School! 8-27-12

Yes, Pinterest has turned me into this mother!
Back to School Survival Kits for the teachers, not my girls. Each were filled with a Gatorade bottle, Gum, and chocolate bar, Sanitizer wipes, stickers, and hand soap.

As we walked out the door a little early to make sure we were to school on time, I ran past the girls room and noticed the lights still on. As I walked in to turn them off, I notice the bed I asked them to quickly go make before we left. This is how they did with that everyday job:

Walking, and so excited. Heidi has been waiting!

Out front where I picked up Naomi all last year.

Back packs. Naomi has a Paul Frank pack with Julius on the top push. Heidi has nothing less than Hello Kitty.

New shoes for a new school year!

Checking out all the 3rd grade teachers and which friend has which teacher.

We all walked Naomi to her classroom first.

Then, after leaving Naomi to catch up with her friends, we walked Heidi to the kindergarten playground. When the 8:10 bell rang, all the kids waited at the classroom doors for the teachers to come out. When Ms Hernandez finally came, she had all the kids line up. One line for girls and one for boys. This is when I could not stop myself from crying. I tried my best, but I just couldn't stop. I was the mom with the big camera wiping tears away, trying not to look at anyone else, and hoping no one was looking at me.
When Ms Hernandez asked the kids all to kiss their own hands and hold it so tight, she handed each child a little note with a tea bag and a cotton attached. I didn't read the poem yet, but each child was told to give the note to whomever had brought them, put the kiss on their cheek and say goodbye. I really was a basket case. I had to tell her I loved her and quickly turn away, leaving Ryan to say his goodbye. I really don't know what came over me. I've waited for this day so long. I've needed Heidi to go to school just as much as she has needed it for something to do with her day and her creative brain. So the tears were a great surprise to me.

Goodbye little Munchkin! Have a great, long day at kindergarten! (All day kindergarten, Yes!)

Saturday Before School!

While we waited for Naomi at Gymnastics, Heidi, Audrey and I went to our usual park hang out: Arcadia County Park.

Later in the afternoon we ALL as a family went to the mall. When in San Clemente, I had told the girls that Ryan would take them to "Justice" for a before school shopping trip. So we had to follow through. This was like a kid in the candy store for both Naomi and Heidi. Naomi was skipping around checking everything out. At one point she turned and said with the biggest grin on her face, "this is the best store ever! I wish like Grandpa owned this store so I could come and take what ever I wanted!"
Heidi could not decide on one thing. Or even three. She couldn't keep her hands off every lip gloss, stuffed animals, jewelry, wigs, hair dyes, candy. You name it, this store has it. Every little girls wants can be found here. We settled on a few random nick nacks. No cloths.

These were the cloths Naomi chose from Justice. The most sparkly shirt and shorts. Then, she had begged for high top tennies for about two weeks. So on the way out to the car, we stopped at the bathroom inside of Nordstroms. Just as we headed out, walking past the kids shoe section, there they were; the glorious shining high top sketchers. She tried on a black pair, a pink pair, and finally decided on the sequin pair. The minute we got home she ran to the family room with the bags of cloths and shoes and put them on immediately and begged to go up the street to show Kate, her new little friend who lives up the street. I couldn't constrain her. I gave her 20 minutes to go up and then come back and to not go in their house. I eventually had to walk up the street to get her. Her spirits were so high she couldn't even stop grinning.

2nd Annual Terrill Ice Cream Social

The girls in heaven! Heidi didn't stand still long enough for me to get a picture. But she did go to the candy and ice cream table about 6 times. And was in and out of the bounce house till I told her to find her sandals so we could go home and hopefully sleep after her sugar rush.

                                                                The End! Good Night!

Last Hurrah Before School Started!

We had the opportunity  to go to San Clemente for almost a whole week before school started. It was a nice last fling before we are tied down with school, homework, piano, etc. We went down on wednesday the 15th and came home on Monday the 20th.  You have already seen the pictures of Naomi's first surf lesson, but here are MORE beach pictures for you. Just bare with me...

Wednesday. We love the beach!

 Just the girls!

Audrey's new thing at the dinner table. "Please take your feet off the table!" "Naaooh!'

After dinner, she found the scissors on the table and started to cut, left handed. She was so excited and very proud of herself. Pinky up and all.

Poor Heidi with her tooth ache. She fell asleep on an ice pack on the couch.
The sky from the condo the first night we were there. Amazing!

Thursday was gloomy!

Friday was amazingly clear skies again.
